Buie, Lopareva win title
Mississippi Gulf Coast's doubles tandem of Bianca Buie and Margarita Lopareva won the ITA Regional Championship title Saturday.
The 6-2, 6-4 win over Marion Military's Rebecca Lin and Karen Yan earns them a trip to the Oracle Cup, formerly called the Small College Nationals. It's the sixth straight trip for Gulf Coast players.
Buie, a sophomore from Baia Mare, Romania, and Lopareva, a freshman from Moscow, Russia, defeated teams from Hinds and Meridian on the way to the championship.
They were the top-seeded team in the event.
The Oracle Cup will be played Oct. 11-15 at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
