Barnes, Lyons named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Ty Barnes and Jenna Lyons have been named MGCC Student-Athletes of the Week for March 26-April 1.

 

Barnes, a sophomore right-hander from Petal, pitched eight strong innings in a 10-4 win at Holmes. He allowed only two earned runs, striking out eight and walking two.

 

Lyons, a sophomore from Pascagoula, won a pair of tiebreakers to claim victories in singles and doubles over Wallace State-Hanceville.

Travis Bell, a sophomore from Jackson, dropped only one game in winning his singles and doubles match against Wallace State-Hanceville.

 

Colby Blake, a sophomore from Tylertown, finished fourth at the GlenLakes Invitational. He shot even-par for Gulf Coast, which finished fourth, and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.

 

Brandon Parker, a freshman from West Harrison, had another stellar week for Gulf Coast. His big game came in Game 1 at Holmes, where he had his second three-home run game of the season. He drove in six runs in the contest, as the Bulldogs went 2-2 on the week.

 

Madison Wall, a freshman outfielder from Hurley, batted .556 for Mississippi Gulf Coast in a pair of losses at Pearl River. She had a home run and drove in six runs.
