Parker, Triplett named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Brandon Parker and Brittney Triplett have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Feb. 26-March 4.

 

Parker, a freshman from West Harrison, four more home runs and drove in 10 runs as the Bulldogs went 4-0. He started the week with a three-home run performance in a 15-4 win at Coastal Alabama-South, driving in seven runs. Parker hit a long line drive to right-center which forced the error that delivered the walk-off run in a 4-3 comeback win against Illinois Central. In a five-run comeback to defeat Baton Rouge 8-6, he went 2-for-3, including the game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. He leads the country with 10 home runs.

 

Triplett, a sophomore shortstop from Brandon, batted .500 in the leadoff spot as the Lady Bulldogs went 3-1 to open MACJC play. She had hits in all four games and has hit safely in 10 of 12 games this season.

Avery Sanders, a freshman right-hander from Thibodaux, La., appeared in three games and allowed only 1 run while striking out 9 in 6.0 innings. She got the win in a 4-2 victory against Holmes by pitching 3.2 innings and allowing striking out 4.

 

Blaise Butirich, a freshman right-hander from St. Patrick, pitched five shutout innings in an 8-4 win at Coastal Alabama-South. He allowed only one hit and struck out two.

 

LaRaymond Spivery, a freshman guard from George County, had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in a loss to Holmes in the first round of the MACJC Tournament.
