Chan, Thigpen named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Dedoch Chan and Shelli Thigpen have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Oct 30-Nov. 5.

Chan, a freshman forward from Rochester, Minn., poured in 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Bulldogs' season-opening win over the William Carey JV. He shot 9-for-16 from the field and made 8-of-11 free throws.

Shelli Thigpen, a freshman guard from Wylie, Texas, averaged 15.5 points in the Lady Bulldogs' two games in the Lady Bears Classic. Thigpen had 16 points in a 62-49 loss to Bossier Parish, then turned around and had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 66-54 win over host Baton Rouge.

Also nominated:

Brice Wilkinson, a freshman golfer from Madison, shot 2-under over 54 holes at the NJCAA Division II National Preview in Foley, Ala. He finished second to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
