McGrew named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week

PERKINSTON — Logan McGrew has been named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week for May 14-20.

McGrew, a sophomore catcher from Sumrall, batted .500 in four games at the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament. He had hits in all four games and went 3-for-5 in a 14-4 victory over archrival Pearl River in eight innings.

Also nominated:

Kole Kittrell, a freshman right-hander from Greene County, pitched a five-inning complete game in a 14-1 win over Itawamba. The run was unearned, and he struck out six while allowing five hits.

Evan Chubb, a freshman from St. Patrick, advanced to the consolation bracket finals in No. 4 singles at the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Tournament in Plano, Texas.
