Harwell, Washington named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Kaitlyn Harwell and Isaiah Washington have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Sept. 11-17.

 

Harwell, a freshman from Stone High, picked up a hat trick in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 5-0 win at Meridian. She scored her first three goals of the season in the Lady Bulldogs' only game of the week.

 

Isaiah Washington, a sophomore defensive end from Karr High School in New Orleans, filled up the stat sheet in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 21-14 win at No. 13 Copiah-Lincoln. He had three tackles, three assists, a sack and a quarterback hurry. He also had a forced fumble and recovered another that punctuated a huge defensive stand. The Bulldogs face second-and-goal inside their 1-yard line, eventually forcing a third-and 34 that ended with his recovery at midfield.

Chascidi Martin, a freshman keeper from Terry High School, picked up her third shutout when Mississippi Gulf Coast beat Meridian 5-0. She made six saves in the Lady Bulldogs' only game of the week.

 

Jordan Hall, a sophomore forward from Manchester, England, had seven goals and an assist in two games for Mississippi Gulf Coast. He picked up a career-high five goals in an 11-0 whitewash of Meridian and scored the OT game-winner for his second against Andrew College in a 4-3 victory. He leads the country with 17 goals.

 

Terrion Avery, a freshman running back from Stone High, ran 15 times for 110 yards in Gulf Coast's 21-14 win at No. 13 Copiah-Lincoln. He also had a pair of receptions.
