PERKINSTON — No. 16 Mississippi Gulf Coast closed out an impressive MACJC regular season, with the Lady Bulldogs defeating No. 25 Copiah-Lincoln 8-1.

"Today was big because we wanted to send a message to the rest of the teams that we've improved a lot," said Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 13-2, 9-1.

Jillianne Craft (So, Gulfport/St. Patrick) and Jenna Lyons (So, Pascagoula/Pascagoula) won two matches each in their final competition at the MGCCC Tennis Complex. Bianca Buie (So, Baia Mare, Romania/Gheorghe Sincai National High School) won her singles match.

"We tweaked the women's lineup six or seven matches ago, and it's really made a big difference in the middle of the lineup," Bourgeois said. "It's really been paying off."

Gulf Coast plays its final regular-season match Thursday at Coastal Alabama-South. First serve in Bay Minette is at 1 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs play in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament in Meridian next week. The three-day event starts April 19.
