No. 16 Lady Bulldogs win 4th straight

PERKINSTON — No. 16 Mississippi Gulf Coast finished a stretch of four MACJC women's tennis matches in as many days Saturday with yet another victory. The Lady Bulldogs defeated No. 23 Meridian 6-3 at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

 

Gulf Coast also won against Copiah-Lincoln, Holmes and Itawamba during the streak to improve to 10-2 overall, 7-1 MACJC. The Lady Bulldogs used a couple of close victories in doubles followed by three straight-set wins in singles Saturday.

 

Tierney Holmes (Fr, Greenwood/Greenwood) and Megan Bankston won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, and Jenna Lyons (So, Pascagoula/Pascagoula) and Jillianne Craft (So, Gulfport/St. Patrick) won 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.

 

Bianca Buie (So, Baia Mare, Romania/Gheorghe Sincai National High School), Margarita Lopareva (Fr, Moscow, Russia/School No. 1101), Holmes and Bankston won their singles matches.

 

Gulf Coast gets a day off before returning to the courts Monday when Wallace State-Hanceville visits Perkinston. First serve is at 1 p.m.
