No. 8 Collin beats No. 12 Gulf Coast

The No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast women's tennis team began its demanding Texas trip Sunday with a long bus drive with a stout opponent waiting in Tyler, Texas.

No. 8 Collin County won 9-0 at Tyler Junior College, the first of three matches in three days for the Bulldogs. Gulf Coast will play three opponents in the top 10 of the ITA rankings.

Abigail Garman (So., Diamondhead/Hancock) and Bayley Askin (So., St. Martin/St. Martin) took their No. 3 doubles match to a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-5).

Gulf Coast will play No. 3 Tyler at 10 a.m. Monday before playing No. 2 Cowley on Tuesday.
