No. 24 Gulf Coast looks to stay atop the South

No. 24 Mississippi Gulf Coast can close out the first round of MACJC South Division play on top with a win Monday at Copiah-Lincoln.

The Bulldogs (14-1, 5-1 South) have a one game lead over a four-team pack: Southwest, East Central, Jones and Pearl River. Co-Lin (3-12, 1-5) is tied with two other teams at the bottom of the standings.

Tipoff in Wesson is at 8 p.m.

Gulf Coast will welcome leading scorer Davion Cole-Johnson to the floor. He picked up two technical fouls in the first half of the Pearl River win, meaning he had to sit out the Hinds victory.

Cole-Johnson is averaging 19.1 points per game.

Co-Lin is led by freshman guard Jonathon Dalton, who is scoring 22.7 points per game.

Gulf Coast travels Thursday to play Jones before returning to Perkinston on Feb. 1 to play Meridian.
