Gulf Coast plays Holmes in MACJC first round

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast begins the postseason Monday night at 6 in Fulton.

The Bulldogs (18-5) are the No. 4 seed from the South Division in the MACJC Tournament, being hosted by Itawamba. They'll play the North No. 1 seed, Holmes (18-5).

Gulf Coast coach Wendell Weathers said motivation is the biggest determinant in deciding these tournaments. His team has also qualified for the Region 23 Tournament, to be held the following week in Clinton.

"We've got two weeks left," he said. "We either got two games left or six games left. That's up to them. The teams that win these tournaments are the teams that aren't ready to quit playing."

Live stats during the tournament can be found at JUCOWeekly.org and the games will be streamed at http://www.letsgoicctv.com.

The women's first round takes place Tuesday, with all semifinals on Thursday and the finals on Friday.

If the Bulldogs win the opener, they'd play the winner of the Jones County-Northeast game.
