Hampton, Jones to play in All-Star Game

PERKINSTON – Two Mississippi Gulf Coast players have been selected to play in the 2016 MACJC All-Star Men's Basketball Game.

 

Sophomore guards Anfernee Hampton and Deshawn Jones will be part of the South team in the game, which will played at East Central Community College on April 15 at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed online.

 

Hampton, who was named to the All-Region 23 Team, averaged 15.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-5, 170-pound sophomore shooting guard from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, shot 43.8 percent from the floor, and started all but two games for Gulf Coast the past two seasons. Hampton was also named to the Region 23 All-Tournament Second Team.

 

Jones, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound sophomore point guard from West Harrison, was also named All-MACJC South Division Second Team. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
