Gulf Coast announces football game themes

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will have special events and nights at all five of its home regular-season football games in 2023.

The season kicks off Sept. 7 against Northwest Mississippi with In The Blue Night, where all fans should wear blue. Gulf Coast will recognize the school's In The Blue award winners, given to employees at the college who go above and beyond to provide the best for our students.

The next week, Itawamba visits Perkinston on Military and First Responder Night. All active duty, veteran or retired members of the military and first responders will be admitted to the game for free and be honored on the field.

After two weeks on the road, Gulf Coast entertains archrival Pearl River on Oct. 5. It will be the White Out Game with all fans encouraged to wear white. Public officials will also be invited to attend and be honored.

Copiah-Lincoln makes the trip the following week on what will be Cancer Awareness Night.

Gulf Coast will celebrate Homecoming on Oct. 28 when the Bulldogs take on Hinds. The usual weekend of activities will start with the Clem Dellenger Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday. Saturday will include a service at Gregory War Memorial Chapel, a cookout, pep rally, and pre-game and halftime ceremonies recognizing reunion groups, honorees and the Homecoming court.

In addition, Gulf Coast will be hosting its usual University Nights where four-year schools will be on hand to meet with Gulf Coast students and take part in the festivities. The schedule will be:

  • Sept. 7: Mississippi State University Night
  • Sept. 14: University of Southern Mississippi Night
  • Oct. 5: University of South Alabama Night
  • Oct. 12: University of Mississippi Night
