Thompson wins MACCC honor
PERKINSTON — No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast grabbed another MACCC Player of the Week award Tuesday, making it two straight weeks of awards for the team. This one went to Jamari Thompson for his offensive fireworks.
The sophomore running back from Pearl ran 22 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns in a 55-21 win over Pearl River. He also caught a pass for 14 yards.
The bruising back scored on two 7-yard runs and a 1-yard plunge.
He's the fourth Bulldog to earn weekly conference honors this season. Quarterback Eli Anderson and linebacker Wyatt Wright won last week, and wide receiver Jay Dupree got one earlier in the year.
