Wright, Anderson win MACCC Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Two of No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast's big contributors in last week's huge win at No. 6 East Mississippi grabbed conference honors Tuesday.

Linebacker Wyatt Wright won MACCC Defensive Player of the Week, with quarterback Eli Anderson earning Offensive Player of the Week. The Bulldogs beat the Lions 42-17 at Scooba.

Wright, a sophomore from Bridgeville, Del., had 18 tackles to lead Gulf Coast. In holding the Lions to 27 points under their season scoring average, he had 12 solo tackles plus a quarterback hurry.

Anderson, a sophomore from Philadelphia, Miss., accounted for six touchdowns against EMCC. He completed 18-of-32 passes for 273 yards and five touchdowns and also scored on a 10-yard run.

They are the second and third Bulldogs to earn conference Player of the Week. Wide receiver Jay Dupree won the award earlier in the season.
