Bulldogs travel to play No. 8 PRCC

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast starts the MACCC women's soccer schedule Friday with a short trip to play a tough foe.

Archrival Pearl River, ranked eighth in the NJCAA, awaits in Poplarville. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://PRCCMedia.com/Gold, and tickets are available at https://PRCCAthletics.com/Tickets.

The Bulldogs are riding a four-game win streak.

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC shut out East Central 2-0 on Friday, getting goals from Kyla Smith (Fr., Hurley/East Central) and Morgan Pickering (So., Wiggins/Stone). A'Leigh Coleman (So., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) and Leah Capiola (Fr., Wiggins/Stone) split the shutout.
  • Pearl River lost 2-0 at Columbia State on Sunday. Columbia State is receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I poll.

Previous Meeting

On Aug. 25, Pearl River won a 3-2 thriller at Perkinston. Smith had two first-half goals to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 halftime lead, but Pearl River scored twice in a five minute span after the break to win.

  • Gulf Coast has scored 12 goals in five games, just four less than the Bulldogs scored in 14 games in 2022.
  • Kyla Smith (Fr., Hurley/East Central) leads the Bulldogs with six goals, tied for fifth in the MACCC.
  • Isabella Reynolds (Fr., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) has five assists, tied for fourth in the conference.
