Women’s Soccer opens playoffs Monday

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will get a couple more days than expected to heal up before playing in the NJCAA Women's Soccer Gulf South District quarterfinals.

Their matchup against No. 13 Pearl River will be played Monday instead of Saturday. The Bulldogs' archrivals are hosting a volleyball regional over the weekend, forcing the extra days off.

Kickoff after the short drive to Poplarville is set for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://jcbobcats.com/watch.

The other two quarterfinals will be played Saturday. Sixth-seeded Itawamba visits No. 3 Holmes, and No. 7 Copiah-Lincoln travels to No. 2 Northwest Mississippi.

The district semifinals will be played Nov. 3 in Ellisville, hosted by top-seeded Jones. The Bobcats will get the lowest-remaining seed, and the others will face off in the second semi.

The championship, which awards an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division II Tournament in Tucson, Ariz., will be played Nov. 5. Eight district champions receive a bid, with four at-large berths available.
