Lady Bulldogs down Faulkner State

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast rebounded Monday from a disappointing loss to defeat Faulkner State 5-4 at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

"I was very proud of them," Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois said. "We had an opportunity to beat Itawamba, but had a meltdown in the last two matches. We were winning 4-3 and lost 5-4.

"We had a talk before the match. They know we have a lot of talent on this team, and today they showed it."

Gulf Coast swept the doubles matches to set the table for the day's win. Paulina Estrada and Karah Younger dominated 8-1 at No. 1, Jasmine Sartin and Lexi Johnson won 8-4 at No. 2 and the No. 3 team of Kendra Soley and Anna Stevison won 8-4.

Estrada and Sartin won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Gulf Coast returns to action Tuesday with an MACJC matchup against East Central. The Lady Warriors will visit Perkinston, with the match starting at 2:30 p.m.
