Gulf Coast drops two matches at MACJC/Region 23 Tourney

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast lost its only two matches on the first day of the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament on Wednesday at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

 

Karah Younger lost a marathon heartbreaker at No. 3 singles, falling to Co-Lin's Chantel Quarles 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.

 

The Lady Bulldogs' No. 3 double team of Kendra Soley and Abigail Smith retired because of injury down 6-0, 2-0 to Itawamba's Meredith Lee/Andria Barnes.

 

A full slate of men's and women's quarterfinals action will start at 8 a.m. Gulf Coast will have players in all men's brackets and seven of nine women's brackets throughout the day.


The tournament is scheduled to conclude Saturday.

 

The top three men's and women's teams advance to the NJCAA Division I Tournament.
