Younger helps MGCCC trounce Northwest

PERKINSTON – A big rally in No. 1 singles helped propel Mississippi Gulf Coast to an 8-1 MACJC win over Northwest on Saturday.

The team of Paulina Estrada and Karah Younger stormed back from a 6-2 deficit to win the last six games at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

"Karah really stepped it up, complemented Paulina," Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois said. "Paulina kept the ball in play and they went after Karah. She responded with some great counteraction shots."

The Lady Bulldogs (6-4) got another strong match from Younger at No. 3 singles, where she didn't drop a game. Lexi Johnson won her No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-2, and Anna Stevison won her No. 5 match 6-2, 6-2.

"We have three big matches coming up," Bourgeois said. "The loss at Hinds was tough, so I think this gives them a lot of confidence this week going against Hinds again, Jones and Co-Lin.

"I think they're feeling they can play with anybody. They're starting to use the tools in their toolboxes. You can't be one-dimensional."
