Bulldogs gunning for 3-0 start

DECATUR, MS---On paper, Thursday's MACJC South Division matchup between Gulf Coast and East Central is a decided mismatch. The Bulldogs have outscored its opponents 104-15 and feature a fast break offense and suffocating defense. The Bulldog offense is lead by reigning MACJC Offensive Player of the Week Jason Smith, who's completing nearly 70 percent of his passes while also rushing for 6 touchdowns in two games. As a whole, Gulf Coast has racked up more than 900 yards of offense and scored 14 touchdowns. The Bulldog defense is only allowing 176 yards per game, tops in the MACJC. Thrown in the fact that Gulf Coast has an 11-gane win streak against the Warriors, and the mismatch seems to be set.

However, East Central rides into the contest on the momentum of a 35-14 thumping of Coahoma last week. East Central signal caller Ethan Hamilton was brutally efficient, going 11-17 for 112 yards and a touchdown while running backs Lamarcus Franks, Marquis Hodge, and Savon Robinson combined for 256 yards and 4 scores. The Warrior defense has also been stingy so far in 2014, giving up only 4 touchdowns.
