Bulldogs go for 10th straight over Hinds

Nothing ever comes easy in the MACJC South Division. The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs found that out last week at East Central. Even though the final score was 35-7, Gulf Coast only led by a touchdown at halftime and 21-7 at the end of the third quarter.

Thursday's battle with South Division foe Hinds will be another tough test against a quality opponent. The Bulldogs do have a nine game win streak over the Eagles that dates back to 2005, but hinds is coming off a 30-15 win over Pearl River that featured an offensive attack which generated 378 yards of total offense. Quarterback James Summers (44-55, 338 yards, 2 TD'S, 1 INT) is back at the helm for Hinds in 2014. Summers, a duel threat signal caller, has also rushed for 291 yards and scored 5 TD'S on the ground. The Eagles running attack is also paced by Joshua Dixson (251 yards rushing, 3 TD'S).

The Bulldogs have a duel threat quarterback of their own in Jason Smith, who tossed three more touchdown passes last week, two of them going to wide receiver Tyrone Williams (11 catches, 251 yards, 5 TD'S). This season, Smith has rushed for 230 yards and 6 TD'S and gone 33-for-46 for 491 yards and 7 scores. The Bulldogs will be thin this week at running back with Preston Dedeaux and Tyler McCann out with injuries. Rod Williams, Chris Robinson, and Rojae Raine will pick up the slack at that position.

Gulf Coast also boasts the MACJC'S top rated defense. So far this season the Bulldogs have held their opponents to 179 total yards per game and forced six turnovers in three games.
