Bulldogs move up a spot in NJCAA Poll

A 42-3 win over then #6 ranked Jones has helped to push Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College up to #3 in the week's NJCAA football poll. The Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) were at the number 4 spot for two weeks but jumped ahead of now #4 Trinity Valley this week. Gulf Coast began the season ranked #9 and has been ranked in the NJCAA poll for 121 straight weeks dating back to 2005.

Meanwhile Bulldog wide reciver Tevaris McCormick has been named MACJC Offensive Player of the week after his performance against Jones on Sept. 25. The sophomore from Biloxi had 4 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown but also rushed 8 times for 142 yards and a TD in the victory. This season, McCormick has 19 receptions for 237 yards and 2 TD'S and has also rushed 17 times for 232 yards and a score.

Now both McCormick and Bulldog quarterback Jason Smith have earned MACJC Offensive Player of the Week awards in 2014. Gulf Coast hosts Southwest Thursday at 7 p.m. at A.L. May Memorial Stadium in Perkinston.
