MGCCC football camps provide top-flight instruction

MGCCC football coach Chad Huff will oversee the 2015 camps, which start the afternoon of June 14 and finish the morning of June 16 in Perkinston. There will be a Lineman Camp and a Skills/Team Camp, with 500 slots available.

Players in grades 9-12 who have not started their senior year are eligible to attend.

Offensive linemen will drill on fundamentals of individual blocking and working as a unit. Defensive linemen will learn reading blocks, defeating blocks and rushing the passer. The Skills/Team Camp will teach fundamentals and include at least seven 7-on-7 games, with a tournament to conclude camp.

Cost is $200 per player for overnight campers, with a team discount rate of $175 per player if a team has 15 or more attending. Day campers pay $150. All campers will be fed lunch, with overnight campers staying in residence halls and getting the rest of their meals on campus. A non-refundable $50 deposit is required with the application.

Huff spent 10 seasons as MGCCC's offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach last season. His 2010 offense broke the school scoring mark with 505 points, second most in the NJCAA that season.

He was previously an assistant at North Alabama, the U.S. Naval Academy and Delta State, where he also played defensive back after graduating from East Central High School. The most recent MGCCC players to play in the NFL include Tramaine Brock of the San Francisco 49ers, Tramain Jacobs of the Baltimore Ravens, Johnathan Jenkins of the New Orleans Saints, Greg Jenkins of the Oakland Raiders and Chris White, a member of the Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots.
