Barker named MACCC Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Fabien Barker's first game for the Mississippi Gulf Coast men's soccer team proved to be very fruitful.

The freshman forward from Madison scored a hat trick for the Bulldogs in their season-opening win at Hinds, and for that effort, he was named MACCC Player of the Week.

The award was voted on by conference sports information directors and announced Tuesday by the league office.

His scored twice off long throw-ins and picked up his other goal when he took a ball from the left wing, sliced inside and buried his shot. Barker's onslaught was all the offense in No. 6 Gulf Coast's 3-0 win.

Barker is now eligible for NJCAA weekly honors.
