No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast outslugged Copiah-Lincoln 5-3 to pick up its first MACCC South win of the season.
The Bulldogs got two goals from James Redmond (So., Oberschule Roter Sand/Bremen, Germany), and Abdul Omar (Fr., Madison/Germantown) scored once and assisted on two others.
Redmond scored the game's first goal with help from Mack Russell (So., Madison/Madison Central), but the Bulldogs went into halftime tied at 1.
Fabien Barker (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) and Ashton Taylor (Fr., Olive Branch/Center Hill) scored in the first five minutes of the second half. Jashil Vithal (Fr., Johannesburg South Africa/Glenvista High School) and Abdul picked up assists.
After Co-Lin made it 3-2, Abdul quickly answered to make it 4-2 and he set up Redmond's final goal after the Wolves had gotten back within one.
Gulf Coast (4-2, 1-2 South) returns to action Friday when Southwest Mississippi visits Bary Thrash Field. Kickoff in Perkinston is scheduled for 7 p.m.
