No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast's offense continued to sputter Friday, and the Bulldogs lost their second straight to open division play. They lost 1-0 to Jones in Ellisville.
Jones scored in the final five minutes of the first half on a long-range shot. The Bobcats had six shots on goal, but the Bulldogs managed even fewer.
Gulf Coast had only two shots that required saving, one in each half.
The Bulldogs (2-2) return to action Sunday in a non-division game against East Central. It is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., but the time and location may change because of wet conditions.
