Gulf Coast puts 6 on All-MACCC men’s team

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast tied for the most honorees on the All-MACCC South Men's Soccer First Team, released by the conference today.

The Bulldogs put six players on the squad: Chad McKnight (So., Byram/Terry), Chad Hudson (So., Gulfport/St. Patrick), Ashton Taylor (Fr., Olive Branch/Center Hill), Deon Travis (So., Madison/Madison Central), Abdul Omar (Fr., Madison/Germantown) and Christian Inchima (So., Brampton, Ontario/St. Edmond Campion).

Jones matched Gulf Coast with six members on the 17-person team.

McKnight and Hudson played central defense for Gulf Coast the past two seasons, and the Bulldogs allowed just 1.07 goals per game this season. That ranked third in the MACCC. Hudson scored a goal, and McKnight picked up four assists.

Taylor had five goals and five assists in his first collegiate season. Travis moved into a more defensive role and thrived playing in front of the backline, earning All-MACCC for the second time.

Omar was an outstanding playmaker for the Bulldogs in his freshman season. He led the league with 11 assists while adding three goals.

Inchima earned All-MACCC honors for the second season. He tied for the league lead with 10 goals while picking up two assists.
