No. 12 MGCCC Men sweep No. 18 Co-Lin

No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast cruised to its seventh straight win to start the men's tennis season, beating No. 18 Copiah-Lincoln 9-0 in Wesson.

The Bulldogs are 6-0 in MACCC play, and they'll play the biggest match of the season Tuesday when No. 13 Jones visits Perkinston. It starts at 2 p.m. at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

Co-Lin (3-4, 3-3) was playing without one of its international players, and the Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles. Vicente Faria (So., Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundaria de Fonseca Benevides) and Gonzalo Cotter (So., Valencia, Spain/IVLA) won the pivotal No. 1 match 9-7.

Faria won his No. 2 singles match in a 10-8 third-set tiebreaker. The Bulldogs bumped Moritz Stroebel (Fr., Metzingen, Germany/Theodor-Heuss-Schule Reutlingen) out of the lineup, bringing Easton van Norden (Fr., Long Beach/Long Beach) into the No. 6 singles spot. He responded with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Nick Dulaney (Fr., Long Beach/Long Beach) won his No. 4 singles match dropping only two games. Ryland Buford (Fr., Gulfport/Gulfport) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
