
Lady Bulldogs scorch nets, blast LSU-Eunice
Mississippi Gulf Coast closed out the 2015 portion of its schedule in style Saturday, shooting the lights out at LSU-Eunice on the way to a 98-57 victory.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-2 ahead of the holiday break by making 14-of-19 from behind the 3-point line.
"I don't know if I've ever, in 28 years of basketball, I don't think I've ever seen a team shoot it that well," coach Jason Conner said. "I haven't seen it. We executed and got it to the right folks."
Ka'Nosha Fairley made 5 of 7 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 21 points. Markeisha Watson shot 4-of-5 from long range and scored 14 points. Kim Calhoun made both her 3-point attempts and finished with 10.
Shaniqua Tobias went 2-for-2 and Kamisha Tarvin 1-for-2 during the long-range assault.
Courtney White had 18 points and a seven rebounds. Jasmine Nettles led Gulf Coast with 10 rebounds, with Kailin Young adding 10 points and six rebounds. Every Lady Bulldog who played scored.
Gulf Coast shot 43 percent from the field and made 16 of 18 free throws (89 percent).
The Lady Bulldogs also took care of things at the other end of the court, as well.
"Defensively, all the things we talked about on our scouting report, we did them all," Conner said. "We hit shots and matched their intensity."
