Lady Bulldogs try to get back in W column

Mississippi Gulf Coast tries to break its first losing streak of the season when it visits archrival Pearl River on Tuesday.

 

The Lady Bulldogs (9-4, 1-3 MACJC South) have dropped two games coming out of the holiday break, but will look to rebound again a sub-.500 PRCC squad.

 

They Lady Wildcats are 4-8, 1-3. Tipoff in Poplarville is 5 p.m.

 

Gulf Coast's Kailin Young had a big week last week, earning MGCCC Female Student-Athlete of the Week honors. The 6-foot-1 sophomore post player from Vicksburg averaged 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games.

 

She had a team-high 10 points and eight rebounds in a 91-48 loss at East Central on Tuesday, adding three assists and two steals. Young followed that with an 11-point, four-rebound performance in a 66-59 loss to Southwest, also picking up two assists and a steal.

 

Gulf Coast returns to Perkinston and Weathers/Wentzell Center on Thursday when Hinds visits. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
