Lady Bulldogs prepare for Southwest

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast will try to get back on the winning track Thursday when Southwest visits the Weathers/Wentzell Center.

The Lady Bears will be a tall task.

"They do their things well, they execute well," Gulf Coast Jason Conner said. "WE have to be able to guard their stuff. We can't give them second-shot opportunities."

Gulf Coast (9-3, 1-2 MACJC South) fell Monday at East Central, while Southwest is 11-1 and brings an unblemished division record to Perkinston. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.

Markeisha Watson continues to lead Gulf Coast, averaging 13.2 points per game. Kailin Young is tops with 5.9 points per game.

Conner is concerned about the Lady Bears' Alissa Adam, who is averaging 9.5 points and 7.2 assists per game.

"Southwest has a great point guard," he said. "She's making all of them better. She shoots it and knows how to play."
