
No. 12 Gulf Coast blows past No. 17 Coyotes
PERKINSTON — No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast cruised to a postseason warmup match victory Monday at the MGCCC Tennis Complex, beating No. 17 Coastal Alabama-South 7-2.
The Bulldogs (10-1) will open play in the NJCAA Region 23 Women's Tennis Tournament on Thursday. They'll play Itawamba in the quarterfinals in Ellisville.
Gulf Coast swept the doubles matches to take control. Danique Vermue (So., 's-Heerenhoek, Netherlands/Scheldemon College) and Valeria Callejo-Vivar (So., Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. Ortega y Gasset) won 8-2 at No. 1.
Dallas Tanner (So., Hattiesburg/Oak Grove) and Mikenzy Dubrow (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Isona Arnaus (Fr., Barcelona, Spain/Centre Lopez Vicuna) and Lauren Sullivan (So., Laurel/Laurel Christian) won their second points while taking straight-set victories in singles.
Gulf Coast closed out a two-match sweep of the Coyotes this season by identical scores.
