Bulldogs lose to PRCC

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's 22-game MACJC South Division win streak ended with a thud Friday night at the MGCCC Soccer Complex when archrival Pearl River beat the Bulldogs 5-1.

Matt Roberts (Fr., Portsmouth England/Portsmouth Grammar School) converted a penalty kick in the 27th minute to give Gulf Coast (0-3) the opening score.

Pearl River (4-0) scored twice before the break to take the lead, then salted the game away with three in the second half.

The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday with a road trip to Meridian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Their next home game is Sept. 7 when Jones County visits Perkinston. Play will start after dedication of Bary Thrash Field following the women's game, which starts at 5 p.m.
