Mississippi Gulf Coast scored three after the break and blanked Holmes 3-0 Tuesday in Ridgeland to win consecutive games for the first time this season. The Bulldogs (3-5) registered their second shutout in a row.
"It's a positive that we got another shutout, given all the goals we've given up," Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. "That's probably the most positive thing we got."
Cisco Thomas (Fr., Mississauga Ontario/Meadowvale Secondary School) had a pair of assists for Gulf Coast.
He set up C.J. Smith (So., Brampton Ontario/David Suzuki Secondary School) in the 55th minute and Tylor Davis (So., Gulfport/West Harrison) in the 63rd minute.
Peyton Younger (Fr., Gulfport/West Harrison) scored the final goal in the 73rd minute with a helper from Griffin Bush (Fr., Pearl/Pearl).
Holmes is now 2-6.
Gulf Coast plays at LSU Eunice on Saturday. The Bulldogs will kick off at 4 p.m.
