Gulf Coast falls 9-4 to Angelina

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast saw a late rally snuffed out by Angelina in a 9-4 loss Saturday night at Bary Thrash Field.

 

The Bulldogs (4-7) trailed by 6-1 before a pair of goals by C.J. Smith (So., Brampton Ontario/David Suzuki Secondary School) and one by Oscar Loya Loya (So., Horn Lake/Horn Lake) cut the deficit to two.

 

The Roadrunners (4-7) pulled away with three goals in the last 11 minutes.

 

Matt Roberts (Fr., Portsmouth England/Portsmouth Grammar School) scored in the 34th minute for Gulf Coast, which trailed 4-1 at halftime.

 

Jacob Beacham, Othonn Ruy, Dadwin Hernandez and Bryan Nunez scored in the first half for the Roadrunners (4-7). Hernandez, Josue Salazar and Chris Burgess scored once each in the second half, and Jesus Cerda scored twice.

 

Gulf Coast makes a trip to Poplarville on Tuesday to resume MACJC South Division play. Kickoff against Pearl River is scheduled for 7 p.m.
