Late 2-goal rally earns Bulldogs a tie

Mississippi Gulf Coast battled back from a two-goal deficit in the final 15 minutes to earn a 4-4 tie at Southwest on Monday.

Luke Mills (Fr., Leighton Buzzard England/Cedars Upper School) scored on a free kick in the 80th minute, and Matt Roberts (Fr., Portsmouth England/Portsmouth Grammar School) set up Cisco Thomas (Fr., Mississauga Ontario/Meadowvale Secondary School) for equalizer eight minutes later in Summit.

The teams played two ten-minute scoreless overtime periods.

The Bulldogs erased two deficits in the first half, as well. Roberts scored on an assist from Thomas in the 28th minute to knot the game at 1, and Thomas answered another Southwest goal with help from C.J. Smith (So., Brampton Ontario/David Suzuki Secondary School) in the 37th minute.

Gulf Coast ends the season 5-9-1, 2-5-1 MACJC South. The tie knocked Southwest (11-2-1, 5-2-1) out of a possible three-way logjam atop the division.
