PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast played better defensively Tuesday, but gave up a late goal to Jones and couldn't score in a 1-0 defeat at Bary Thrash Field.
The Bulldogs (5-9, 2-5 MACJC South) were officially eliminated from the playoffs with the loss. Jones (10-1, 5-1) has won seven straight and grabbed hold of first place in the division.
Thomas Carlile scored with 14 minutes left for the only goal of the game.
Gulf Coast closes out the season Monday with a trip to Southwest. Kickoff in Summit is scheduled for 3 p.m.
