Lott, Carter named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Haley Lott and Denzel Carter have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for October 8-14.

 

Haley Lott, a sophomore keeper from West Harrison, didn't allow a goal from the run of play in a 1-0 loss to No. 16 Jones. She stopped 10 shots, giving up only an 87th-minute penalty kick.

 

Denzel Carter, a freshman tight end from St. Petersburg, Fla., caught two first-quarter touchdown passes in Gulf Coast's 27-14 win over East Central. He has touchdown receptions in the last two games.

Kyle Kellems, a freshman keeper from Madison, stopped 9 of 10 shots he faced in a 1-0 loss to Jones.

 

R'Tarriun Johnson, a sophomore safety from Stone High, racked up a season-high 14 total tackles against East Central. He made 11 solo tackles, and had 2 tackles for loss and broke up one pass.

 

Terrion Avery, a sophomore running back from Stone High, ran 21 times for 91 yards and scored two touchdowns against East Central. He also caught two passes for 18 yards.
