
Ruiz Ospina, Jobe named Scholar All-Americans
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast is the only MACCC school with two members of the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American team for 2025.
David Ruiz Ospina and Nygel Jobe were named to the First Team, the organization announced Thursday.
The Junior College division award is given to sophomores and requires a 3.30 GPA, a player play in 75 percent of games and be an elite player.
Ruiz Ospina, a sophomore from Manizales, Colombia, went 12-4-5 with a 1.10 goals-against average. He had five shutouts, and he was one of the best passers on the team.
Ruiz Ospina has a 4.00 GPA in marketing.
Jobe, a midfielder from Brandon, was a two-time All-MACCC honoree. He had two goals and four assists and was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.
Jobe has a 3.65 GPA in business.
Only three MACCC players earned Scholar All-American honors.
