MGCCC pulls away from Warhawks

D'yasmond Booker (Fr., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) had 25 points and Mykah Brown (So., Petal/Petal) added 22 to lead Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 79-53 win at Coastal Alabama-East in Brewton on Monday.

The Bulldogs (3-0) broke a 35-all tie early in the second half and outscored the Warhawks by 26 the rest of the way. They made 28 of 39 free throws, scoring 21 more points from the line than Coastal Alabama.

Booker made 11 of his 14 free throws and Brown shot 70 percent from the field. Booker led Gulf Coast with nine rebounds.

Jayden McCorvey (Fr., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) had 11 points.

Gulf Coast trailed by as many as six in the first half but rallied for a 28-26 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday at the Weathers-Wentzell Center. They entertain Delgado, with tipoff set for 6:30 p.m.
