Neely, Goolsby named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Dillyn Neely and Mia Goolsby have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Jan. 13-19.

Neely, a sophomore guard from Biloxi, averaged 13.5 points and 2.5 rebounds as Gulf Coast won twice. He had eight points in a 15-0 run that helped turn around a 71-67 win over Southwest. He had two 3-pointers in the spurt and finished 3-of-4 from behind the arc with 18 points. He also had nine points in a 63-61 win at Meridian.

Goolsby, a sophomore point guard from Greenville, S.C., was deadly behind the arc in a pair of wins last week, shooting 62.5 percent helping Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 2-0 week. She had 21 points, two assists and three steals in a 78-69 win over Southwest, then added 23 points, two assists and a steal in a 61-58 win at Meridian. The 5-foot-2 guard also averaged 6.0 rebounds per game.
