Wells named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week

PERKINSTON — Omni Wells has been named MACJC Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 21-27.

Wells, a sophomore running back from Moss Point, ran for 104 yards on just nine carries in No. 1 Gulf Coast's 31-21 win at No. 6 Hinds to clinch the MACJC South title. He averaged 11.6 yards per carry, one of which was a 65-yard touchdown run which gave the Bulldogs the lead for good.

Also nominated:

Cisco Thomas, a sophomore midfielder from Mississauga, Ontario, assisted on both goals in Gulf Coast's 2-0 win over Itawamba in the MACJC quarterfinal matchup at Fulton.

Isaiah Gore, a freshman keeper from Laurel, posted a shutout in against Itawamba. He stopped all six shots he faced.

Jamie Sheriff, a sophomore defensive end from Terry, had two sacks among his three tackles for loss at Hinds. He finished with eight total tackles and added a broken-up pass.
