Bolton named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week

PERKINSTON — Austin Bolton has been named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week for Aug. 26-Sept. 1.

Bolton, a sophomore running back from Poplarville, ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 49-9 win over Mississippi Delta. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry on 15 attempts and scored on a 43-yard romp.

Also nominated:

Malik Jones, a freshman defensive back from Grenada, had a pair of turnovers in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 49-9 win over Mississippi Delta. He recovered a fumble and wrestled an interception away from a Trojan receiver, in addition to picking up six total tackles and a tackle for loss.

Jymetre Hester, a freshman wide receiver from Belle Glade, Fla., returned a pair of kicks for 73 yards, including a long of 52 yards, and one punt for 19 yards.
