Bolton, Jackson named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Austin Bolton and Kelsi Jackson have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Nov. 4-10.

Bolton, a sophomore running back from Poplarville, scored the game-winning touchdown on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter of No. 1 Gulf Coast's 22-19 win at No. 4 Northwest Mississippi to win the MACJC Championship. He led all rushers with 116 yards on 23 carries.

Jackson, a freshman guard from South Jones, scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 66-52 win over Coastal Alabama-South. She made 7-of-12 shots from the field and also grabbed six rebounds and dished out two assists.

Also nominated:

Jamie Sheriff, a sophomore defensive end from Terry, had three sacks to against Northwest Mississippi. Had had five solo tackles and four assists.

D'yasmond Booker, a freshman guard/forward from Pascagoula, had a double-double in Gulf Coast's 93-59 win over the William Carey JV. He scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds, including six offensive boards.

Caden Davis, a freshman kicker/punter from Pearl, handled all kicking duties at Northwest Mississippi to claim the MACJC championship. He made both PATs and punted seven times for a 36.0-yard average.
