Simmons, Booker named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week
PERKINSTON — Kayla Simmons and D'yasmond Booker have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Jan. 6-12.
Simmons, a sophomore forward from Brandon, notched her first double-double of the season in just her fourth appearance after returning from injury. She had 12 points and an eye-popping 17 rebounds in a 49-42 loss to Copiah-Lincoln.
Booker, a freshman guard/forward from Pascagoula, had another double-double in the Bulldogs' 10th straight win to open the season. He had 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-61 win over Copiah-Lincoln to notch his third double-double.
