Fell, Gore named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Chloe Fell and Isaiah Gore have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 7-13.

Fell, a sophomore defender from Bury, England, scored in each must-win game last week for Mississippi Gulf Coast. She had a goal in a 4-0 win at Southwest, then got the game-winning goal on a PK with 30 seconds left to clinch a playoff spot in a 2-1 over Meridian.

Gore, a freshman keeper from Laurel, posted shutouts in two must-win games for Mississippi Gulf Coast to clinch an MACJC playoff berth. In a 1-0 win over Southwest, he stopped three shots. Gore stopped two in a 2-0 win against Meridian.

Also nominated:

Kaylee Van Norman, a sophomore from Brandon, stopped six of seven shots while playing with a broken hand to pick up a pair of victories. She stopped all three shots in a 4-0 shutout at Southwest, then three of four in a 2-1 against Meridian which clinched a playoff spot.

Mike Smith, a freshman linebacker from Ridgeland, piled up 13 total tackles to lead No. 1 Gulf Coast's dominating defensive effort in a 25-5 win at No. 19 East Central. He broke up a pass as the Bulldogs held the Warriors to under 100 yards rushing and passing.

Austin Bolton, a sophomore running back from Poplarville, ran for 157 yards and a touchdown at East Central. Bolton averaged 7.5 yards a carry and now has eight rushing touchdowns, tied for seventh-best in the country.
