Smith wins MACJC Player of the Week
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Mike Smith has been named MACJC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the No. 1 Bulldogs' 25-5 win over No. 19 East Central.
The freshman linebacker from Ridgeland piled up 13 total tackles to lead a dominating defensive effort in at Decatur. He also broke up a pass as the Bulldogs held the Warriors to under 100 yards rushing and passing.
It's the third straight week Gulf Coast has won the MACJC defensive weekly honor, and it's Smith's second time to win the award this season.
He's eligible for the NJCAA weekly award, which has been won the last two weeks by a Bulldog.
