Strong, Davis win MACJC honors

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Navonteque Strong and Caden Davis have won two-thirds of the MACJC Players of the Week awards for their performances in the state semifinals.

Strong, a freshman linebacker from Forest, filled up the stat sheet in No. 1 Gulf Coast's 31-7 win over No. 13 East Mississippi in the MACJC semifinals. He had three sacks among 10 total tackles and also returned an interception 26 yards. Strong had four quarterback hurries.

Davis, a freshman kicker/punter from Pearl, handled all kicking duties against East Mississippi. He averaged 42.7 yards on three punts and was perfect on four PATs and a 23-yard field goal.

Strong and Davis are now eligible for NJCAA weekly honors.
