Bolton, Davis hoist MACJC honors

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Austin Bolton and Caden Davis have been named MACJC Players of the Week for their efforts in the 22-19 win at Northwest to win the state championship Saturday.

Bolton, a sophomore running back from Poplarville, scored the game-winning touchdown on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter. He led all rushers with 116 yards on 23 carries.

Davis, a freshman kicker/punter from Pearl, handled all kicking duties at Northwest. He made both PATs and punted seven times for a 36.0-yard average.

It's the first time Bolton has won state honors, and Davis has won two straight awards. They are now nominated for NJCAA Player of the Week selection.
